Taiwan - Update #4
Maokong.
The lush, forest mountains of Taipei. To start our trip, we got to ride on these glass floor gondolas which were super cool. We could see the beautiful mountains that we rode over. The ride was actually pretty long (20 minutes or so) with two pit stops in the middle but we were riding it all the way to the top.
Our destination at the top the the mountains was a tea restaurant where all the dishes are tea-infused. (Maokong used to be the largest tea growing in Taipei according to wiki). Some cool dishes included:
tea fried rice
tea steamed fish
tea and rose (!) grilled prawns. (those are dried tea leaves and rose petals on top)
After one of the largest lunch I’ve ever had (we were with Eric sister friend mom’s [Eric-> Justine -> Josh -> Mama Liu, got that?] who ordered us so much food), we head down the mountain to the 2nd pit stop, a trio of temples representing 3 religions in Taiwan: Buddhism, Confucianism, and Taoism. These temples were so amazingly pretty.
Not to mention that they were literally on a mountain’s side so you have a breath taking view of the city.
Too bad I only made it to the Buddhist and Taoist temples (they were predicting a thunderstorm so we had to hurry and get down the mountain).
Our last pit stop down the Maokong mountain was the Taipei Zoo. Unfortunately, that was where my camera died since I forgot to charged it the day before. (I did take a pic of cute bus we rode on).
The most hyped up thing about the zoo was the panda exhibit, but the two pandas were lazy and didn’t do much. But I did enjoy the Nocturnal exhibit!
We also made it home before the thunderstorm hit! Whee!
